Uff Da

I spent a few hours in the ER this afternoon.  Poor Dan.  Celebrating his birthday by watching his wife lie on a gurney.  Nothing is wrong with my heart.  Phew!  Okay, so then it's likely my heartburn is out of control.  Ach.  You know what that means?  Less, if no more, of the good stuff:  coffee, chocolate, onions, garlic, spicy foods . . . and a prescription for an antacid.

My mother suffers from GERD.  I don't think I have it that bad, yet.  I hope to avoid it.  If I can avoid it by drastically reducing certain consumed foods/drinks, then fine.  This pain is for the birds.

Anyway, I will see my regular doc tomorrow and hopefully find out if treatment for my upset stomach can be dealt with.  I know it can.

I have to tell you, though, my experience with the IV.  The insertion wasn't so bad (no pain), but the stupid thing bled out all over the floor when she put it in.  I've had IV's, I don't know, many many times in my life.  This is the first time I've ever had that happen.  But, that's not the worst of it.  The woman who removed it was an idiot.  She tugged the band aid loose on one side, pushed the cotton ball w/ tape down on the needle in my arm?  Yeah, then yanked the dang thing out sideways!  It was painful!  When I cried out, she didn't even say she was sorry or anything.  Just, "Hold this down and apply pressure."  I ought to have reported her, but she took off and I didn't get her name.  She didn't use rubbing alcohol or wipes to loosen the tape either.  I'm missing hairs on my wrist!  Dan's gob was open so wide a freight train could have shoved through no problem.  It was that bad!  I can only imagine what it looked like, but being the recipient of such treatment, I'm glad it was me and not some little kid or old person.

Wait.  I am old.  It hurt fierce!  It will leave a mark, I'm sure.  If so, I'll take a picture and show you later.

Anyway, please pray for me.  I want to go to Molokai on Wednesday . .. I gotta nip this crud in the bud.  Mahalo!

Ahhh, poor Sarah!
I'll pray for you.
I've had some terrible IV people, I've learned it's pride, theirs. Sometimes you get someone who "knows what they are doing" and only to find out they don't.

Praying for you, dear girl. You need some Nexium (proton pump inhibitor). It's a wonder drug for folks like us with GERD!

Ah MAN! My mom is a nurse and she keeps saying the nurses these days are slow and "not too good".

I do not like anyone poking my body with things and pulling things out either.

Hang in there!
