Squished

Lookee what I'm going to do in the morning:

Ooops.  Erm, this is what I meant:

That's better.

May as well have a laugh about it,  yeah?  Yeah, that's what I thought.

Byodo-In Temple

Yesterday we went to see Byodo-In Temple in the Valley of the Temples over in Kaneheo.

Here's some pictures I took on the kids' camera.  Rachel took many with her new Nikon D3100.  I haven't seen them yet, but if there are any that are not too redundant, I will share later.  After our walk through this lush, tranquil garden and temple, we went to China Town to find APB store where Connor found a pair of shoes (sneakers).

A black swan.

Me, ringing the bell for good luck.

Teenie and her new 'toy'.

I love Teenie's expression.  Fear of something falling or pooping on her?  No.  She says she was just looking for pictures.

The largest bamboo I've ever seen.

Connor strikes (delicately) the Lotus Position.

A fancy awning in China Town.

I hope you enjoyed this little slide show of pictures.  There were more, but it is laborious to put here and  it does take up massive amounts of picture storage space.  You can find more (and the captions are funnier) over on FB (if you're a friend . . . you can always ask me to be if you're on FB).

Cheers and wishing you all a lovely week!  We'll be busy and I'll share on Friday with 8/52!

bark, Bark, BARK!!!!!

We are caring for a friend's dog and his name is Mousse.  He's a puppy chocolate Labrador, roughly 8 months old . . . and already a moose.  But, he's Mousse.  He's a dreamy dog, but he's full of realistic bouncy energy!

Holly is miffed.  A trifle upset.  This "thing" we let in the house . . . her castle!  This "thing" keeps his snout up her behind when he's not bouncing, pouncing, and bounding at her.

Mousse has big poops.  Mousse drinks a gallon of water a day and my yard is soaked. Holly is upset about her yard being super soaked by another dog.  His intrusion on her territory has her glaring at us.

Poor Holly.  It's only one week.

Likely a very.long.week.

Shower Stall Sharing

In real life I am quite the TMI person.  For example, if I heard someone say, "Gee, I must be a cow of late, since my crap is the colour of grass," I would most definitely laugh out loud.  I think that's funny!  Of course, not in polite company.  But, where is our polite company any longer?  I wouldn't say something like that to just anyone or in polite company myself, but to a friend or acquaintance, I might.  Often times my mind is spinning faster than I can talk, so be thankful the wiring trips up along the way . . . I do open my mouth to change feet embarrassingly frequently.

My thoughts go everywhere while I'm in the shower.  So, today, I thought I'd (maybe) amuse by what was plunking through the cranium this morning:

  • Do you know why old folks never throw anything away and make collections of things like soap, toothpaste, and such-like?  (as I looked a the Sally Hansen foot scrub, recollecting that I got it just as we moved in to this house over 1.5 years ago . . . when does this expire?  I hardly ever use it, but there's the 50% more free not being used . . . I need to put it in the bin, there's soap scum all over it . . . blah blah blah).  I think old folks buy stuff on sale . . . they're hopeful, at any rate, that they'll live to use all the stuff they store up.  I don't think they forget about any of it.  They know it's there.  I think they realize it's wasted money and keep it out of guilt.  Just my two cents - hardly worth mulling this stuff over in the shower, is it?
  • (As I was drying off my arm) . . . I'm fearfully and wonderfully made . . . it's such a shame, in a way, that this body (although perfectly functioning, but imperfect in other ways) is going to waste away.  However, I'm grateful to have every limb and that they are in working order (even if a bit chunky here, dented there, scared hither and tither, and so on).  I appreciate what God has made.
  • I'm really cold and I must get out of here and dress quickly so I can rummage around in the kitchen for something to eat.  If I eat I may get sick . . . if I don't eat, sickness is a certainty.  I can always cancel the appointment . . . I don't have to go to the orthodontist.  But, I should . . . nothing to be anxious about at all . . . they're just going to give my old gob a good look-see and I get to leave.  30 minutes tops!  I can do this!
Ugh, it's almost 9:30 . . . I have to leave soon.  God, please help me keep it together!  Amen.

Nothing too scandalous, see?  But, my thoughts go all over in the shower.  I'll never go too TMI with them here, but I thought this could be a fun feature here at Harbor of Aloha.

Share your shower thoughts, if you want.

6/52

The pile at the end of the hall has regenerated itself.  Damn!

Christian's guinea cage he built himself.  You can see Debbie's nose just under the animal print tarp and Ginny in a "what the heck is going on?" pose in the back corner.

I'm chuffed to bits to have this top.  I got it at Cinnamon Girl's.  I'm glad I got it since I was afraid it was to "dizzy" a print for me.   Teenie said it was "a must buy".

Another two must-buys:  that coffee cup with surfboards by Starbucks just for Hawaii.  There's a load of cups at Starbucks that are Hawaii-esque.  I also had to have that Lu necklace about my neck.

This book came in the mail and I had it read in under three hours.  I was familiar with her story, because I read most of it on her blog.  I think this was tamed down . . . I missed not reading about her "heiny tingles", but other than that:  great book!  Recipes in the back.  Of course!  She'll have you eating butter before you can say "cholesterol will kill the skeeter that drinks your blood!"

An Idiot Abroad

Ricky Gervais calls An Idiot Abroad, "The most expensive practical joke I've ever done." Ricky and longtime friend Stephen Merchant are sending their uncultured colleague, Karl Pilkington to visit the 7 Wonders of the World. Will it open his eyes or will he hate every second?
Don't miss new episodes, Saturday nights at 10PM e/p only on Science Channel!
In my humble opinion, one of the funniest shows on the telly . . . outside of The Big Bang Theory and the original British version of Top Gear.  Comment if you have seen it or are going to check it out.

3/52, 4/52, and 5/52 respectively . . . Good Lord! I'm A Behind!

I'm playing catch up!  But only just.  Teenie has saved me from further embarrassment . . . as I join in on the fun of the weekly post of pictures.  Nothing  is ever very mundane here, but always magical in its own wonderful way.  Join Barbara and I/us in this adventure.  Link from Barbara, if you play along, please.  Mahalo!

The cider chat at MCCW (last week?!?).  Some of us spoke about our lives or shared with each ingredient added, reminding each other that we all add something to life that's valued!

The need for speed.  Whatevah!

The Aloha Stadium where the Pro Bowl is held.

Nice road shot of downtown Honolulu.

Drive by of Tripler Army Medical Center.  That's the pink building on the left.

The Brow of the Tuna!  Diamond Head.  Oh, there I am:  in the bloomin' mirror!

Went here to eat at The Counter.

The triple plate:  fries, onion rings, and sweet potato fries.   Yum.  The burger was also quite excellent.

The bane of last weeks existence.  My mandoline thumb.  It's on the mend now, but typing/writing was a real horses arsed thing to do!

Well, I hope that catches me up enough.  I reckon these pics don't tell a whole lot, but there it is.  I'll do better next week now, if I can keep pinching the kids laptop!  For some odd reason, my PC hates me and enjoys the fact that in order to blog pictures from my camera, I must go through a gazillion (actually, only two) steps to do so.  There's the rub.  Anyway, I do so love to share so I shall keep on taking these steps for my dear bloggy buddies.

And Ze Vinner of Zee Turtle Is . . .

Dawn.

Congratulations!

It's kind of funny . . . but not many found this contest or rather didn't want the blast thing.  I hope it's the former.  Anyway, as you know, Dawn, I am mailing out a box to you anyway, so I reckon this is rather convenient.

Christine, Rosemary, and Suzie:  I'll host another contest with a nice Hawaiian surprise again in the near future where you'll once again get to "compete" for the lucky draw.

Wishing you all Aloha and God's blessings.
