52 weeks of daily life in pictures: trials and celebrations, the extraordinary and mundane -- whatever is unique to the week. Join me and Barbara (the host) if you like.
curling bark is fascinating to me.
I took three shots at different angles and this one was the one that won.
A whale bird (actually called Pluver) atop a rock by the Arizona Memorial on Ford Island.
Apparently, this is the house John Wayne lived in for a film he did here. I like the tree. Look at the trunk!
A kid who is almost always nearly in motion.
Textures and angles. That's what I'm after this week. This is the Banyan tree.
I just think these are unique to Hawaii, as I've never seen them anywhere else.
A towel bar is hung.
Uprooting the mess was the easy part.
Cutting it down for the lawn bags is the back breaking bit. I still have have to go through.
A view of St. Anthony's retreat center in Kalihi.
Who wouldn't want to have a retreat/conference here? A lovely babbling brook.
One of the historic orphanage buildings. It has rooms, dining hall, kitchen, and a chapel.
At the end of the Stations, we all come to the Cross.
My kids with St. Damien of Molokai relics at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, Honolulu.
Bishop Larry Silva with the new Candidates for Deacon and their wives.
Myself, Easter (who's husband is in Deacon formation now), and Katie. Honolulu, HI.

I am thoroughly enjoying your photos. Its really like being able to take a little trip of life in Hawaii..a place I used to only dream of living.
Gotta tell ya..if you are fascinated by curling bark, you should see the lovely yard of one of my friends. She has tons of birch trees out front on a huge piece of land and they are all "curling" right now. It looked liked a different sort of wonderland the other day. Isn't nature incredible?! I've only been more into nature in a bigger way the last couple of years. God and His gifts! Your family looks wonderful and I love that retreat center area..oh my goodness! Breathtaking!
Great pics -- you had a busy week! I think I should definitely plan for a retreat in Hawaii -- that picture of the babbling brook looks like the definition of the word "retreat."
What a lovely week you've had. I loved the pictures. I miss banyan trees!
