Shower Stall Thoughts

I know you all missed reading these.

  • I'm trying to come to grips that I'm an exceptionally flawed person and to not take it complacently.  What I mean is, I acknowledge this sobering fact and try to change it (if I can) or accept the Grace of God (this is most of the time, because I am flawed), but not beat myself up or wrongly believe that my flaws are unforgivable (not for a moment do I believe so, but sometimes the El Horned One likes to whisper terrible nothings into my ears).
  • I better embrace the fact that I can't do everything I set out to do today, because I am sick.  I have an intestinal virus (and I get these easily, I think).  I'm slightly feverish, so I know I'm ill.  However, I sure found time to procrastinate the other day and NOT do anything but read and the bare-minimum.  Folks, if you sew procrastination, you'll reap it 100 fold.  I kid you not.  (Mary, Un-doer of Knots, please un-knot my knots!  I mean, my 'nots'.  Amen.)
  •  So, sick or no, I am slowly doing my to-do list, because . . . my mind won't shut off no matter how much I tell it to take a day off.  It will say to me in reply, "But you HAD several days off and you didn't do a bloody thing, you clod!"
  •  I won't be going to the bank today, friends, because it is payday . . . and I wanted to go to the grocery store to get some items (top of the list:  Hershey's syrup - for Dan), but that place will also be a terrible horrible no good horror to enter into.  I'll keep ringing Dan up at work and ask him to go! (evil cackles)
  • We can't go to Fr. Jon's b-day thing tonight, and I'm supposed to bring a dish.  How many folks do you think would care if I brought a dish (and made it while sick?).  It doesn't matter how many, because I care.  I would be very cross if I ate food a sick person made.
That's pretty much the stuff that was going through my brain as I showered.  I'm going to switch the loads out of the machines and keep plugging along.  I hope that I have the kids bathroom cleaned before dinner . . .  and I wonder what that will be?  Tuna sandwiches, I think.

Just A Thought Share

Just knowing that I am a part of what God wanted . . . gives me immense satisfaction and joy.

Shower Stall Thoughts

  • When did blogging become something to give up over Lent?  It seems to be a "big thing" that I've noticed since I started reading blogs and blogging myself over three years or so ago.  I suppose if blogging IS getting between you and your relationship with God, you ought to dump it 365 or something like 24/7, yeah?  I suppose, too, that many have valid reasons for putting blogging aside during Lent, but I don't see why you can't keep blogging (limit it perhaps?) during Lent and still be good.  Post Lenten readings or your own reflections on the daily reading for Mass?  Use your blog for Lent.

Or don't.

Write or don't write.

  • It makes me feel like a giant ass, though, that I'm going to just stick with blogging when it strikes my fancy.  Of course, it's not anyone else fault the way I feel or perceive what they are doing is any reflection on me and my faith.  Does that make any sense?  It's not YOUR fault if you choose not to blog during Lent - it's your thing.  But, why does it make me feel bad?????  1)  I'll miss you, and 2) I ought to put more thought into the giving up in Lent . . . I think it's hard enough to not eat meat on Friday's/Ash Wednesday and fast as well.  It's hard for this chunky chickie anyway.

  • While showering in the dark once again . . . I was thinking, "How many Irishmen does it take to screw in a light bulb?  NONE.  They don't mind drinking in the dark."   ... this is because my thought process was:  I got the light bulbs from self help (military place to get household things like filters and light bulbs) after a week of badgering reminding Dan to pull the old ones out of the lights in the shower stalls and it has taken him already a week to get the replacements put in . . . and I can't see to shave so I hope he doesn't mind that I'm in reverse-evolution here.
Enjoy Fat Tuesday, y'all.  Try not to over analyze - just live right by God.  Go to Mass.  Be thankful.  Ask Him for nothing but to be more faithful to Him.  I'll share my Lenten journey as it unfolds.  Wishing you all the love of Christ and Mary.

Shower Stall Sharing

In real life I am quite the TMI person.  For example, if I heard someone say, "Gee, I must be a cow of late, since my crap is the colour of grass," I would most definitely laugh out loud.  I think that's funny!  Of course, not in polite company.  But, where is our polite company any longer?  I wouldn't say something like that to just anyone or in polite company myself, but to a friend or acquaintance, I might.  Often times my mind is spinning faster than I can talk, so be thankful the wiring trips up along the way . . . I do open my mouth to change feet embarrassingly frequently.

My thoughts go everywhere while I'm in the shower.  So, today, I thought I'd (maybe) amuse by what was plunking through the cranium this morning:

  • Do you know why old folks never throw anything away and make collections of things like soap, toothpaste, and such-like?  (as I looked a the Sally Hansen foot scrub, recollecting that I got it just as we moved in to this house over 1.5 years ago . . . when does this expire?  I hardly ever use it, but there's the 50% more free not being used . . . I need to put it in the bin, there's soap scum all over it . . . blah blah blah).  I think old folks buy stuff on sale . . . they're hopeful, at any rate, that they'll live to use all the stuff they store up.  I don't think they forget about any of it.  They know it's there.  I think they realize it's wasted money and keep it out of guilt.  Just my two cents - hardly worth mulling this stuff over in the shower, is it?
  • (As I was drying off my arm) . . . I'm fearfully and wonderfully made . . . it's such a shame, in a way, that this body (although perfectly functioning, but imperfect in other ways) is going to waste away.  However, I'm grateful to have every limb and that they are in working order (even if a bit chunky here, dented there, scared hither and tither, and so on).  I appreciate what God has made.
  • I'm really cold and I must get out of here and dress quickly so I can rummage around in the kitchen for something to eat.  If I eat I may get sick . . . if I don't eat, sickness is a certainty.  I can always cancel the appointment . . . I don't have to go to the orthodontist.  But, I should . . . nothing to be anxious about at all . . . they're just going to give my old gob a good look-see and I get to leave.  30 minutes tops!  I can do this!
Ugh, it's almost 9:30 . . . I have to leave soon.  God, please help me keep it together!  Amen.

Nothing too scandalous, see?  But, my thoughts go all over in the shower.  I'll never go too TMI with them here, but I thought this could be a fun feature here at Harbor of Aloha.

Share your shower thoughts, if you want.
