Conference

The new region (Pacific) in MCCW (Military Council of Catholic Women) has had its inaugural conference over the last weekend (Sept. 16-18) at the Saint Anthony Retreat Center in Kalihi on the island of O'ahu.  The region consists of military chapels in Hawai'i, Guam, Japan, and Korea.  We are so blessed that Hawai'i hosted this event (so it was easy for me to commit to!) and that Guam and Korea both represented with lovely women in attendance (and a few with babes-in-arms!!! my poor ovaries!!!)!  Our keynote speaker was Marie Joseph.  Her ministry is Fired Up Catholics (click to read more about this ministry).

I truly enjoyed this conference and got so much from being present.  Mass every day!  Confession!  Nocturnal Adoration!  Fellowship!  Speakers!  C'mon, it was bloody brilliant!  My hat is off to our Regional Board for seeing the dream come to fruition!

I am currently in Day 2 of the Fired Up Catholics 30-day spiritual cleanse.  I'll post more about this at another time, if I am lead by the Holy Spirit to do so.

In the mean time, here are some pictures (credit goes to Loretta; not sharing more of her name or any one's names in the pictures or privacy reasons.  If in any event I am asked to remove the pictures, which I doubt, but if so, I shall; enjoy then!).

Do I always stand like an eejit?

Me smiling "weird" but rockin' the new Lu jewelry pieces!

Kalihi is beautiful for a retreat center.

Mass (see, I'm so holy!!!)

Our priests!  Please pray for them!

You can't listen to Marie Joseph without having a laugh.

Marie praying with me.  I think I said something horrible, yeah?  :)

Marie and her friend, K.

This just looks really funny, but I'm actually leading the ladies in the Second Station.  By the time we got to the Cross at the end, the skies opened up on us!

Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.

I like this picture.  It astounds me how I favour my father so much in this picture.

Pajama party!

This baby is another woman's baby, but I 'stole' her for a bit.  Here I am sharing the baby.  I do that.  I don't think I'll ever get over not having any more of my own.  I don't want to rush the granny stage just yet, so I "take over" other ladies babes.  I try to be cautious, because I will give them back!

I am picking through the fried Spam.  Lord alive, I did eat some.  It wasn't so bad, but I'm not stocking it in my kitchen.

Fr. Paul (who is a priest for the retreat center) treated us to a wonderful hula from a local.  She did the hula to a Hawaiian version of Let This Be Our Prayer (Celene Dion).  It was so lovely!

ovary twang!

group shot!  Wonderful wonderful people!

Another group shot (and if you look, you see I'm making a silly face).

Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of Your Priests and Your Church!

I am so jealous! There, I said it.

So glad you got to have this experience. I totally sympathize with the ovary twangs... two of my good friends just had/are having a baby soon. *sigh*

Great photos..thanks for sharing your experience...reminds me of some of the lovely retreats I've been on..the group picture reminds me of my Cursillo weekend. The first picture I love because when I went up to Michigan the time I met Rosemary at Dominos Farms, they have a wonderful Catholic gift shop there and I purchased my very own Our Lady of Good Counsel in a lovely frame that is hanging near my doorway that you see when you go out or if you are in the livingroom, or heading downstairs..it is absolutely one of my favs and I think of Rosemary each time I look at it and our wonderful few moments of meeting! :) You look wonderful, sweetheart!
